Autumn 2026 Eyeshadow Trends

Explore the autumn 2026 eyeshadow mood, with trends inspired by celebrities like Zendaya and Charli XCX.

Autumn 2026’s Eyeshadow Mood Is Already Taking Shape

If the first sight of auburn leaves makes you want to reach for makeup rather than a new wardrobe, autumn 2026 is already speaking your language.

From New York Fashion Week to movie premieres and album tours, the season’s most watched style figures are sketching out a beauty agenda built around eyeshadow — and the looks landing first are the ones that feel most in step with the shift from bright days to darker clothes, leather jackets and suede.

Zendaya is helping set the tone with a soft wash of tan and lavender hues, sculpted by makeup artist Ernesto Casillas during a recent trip to New York, where she wore a full face of Prada Beauty.

Casillas said, “We were inspired by Prada Beauty’s new Wisteria Makeup Collection to pop that beautiful lilac colour on the eyes,” and the effect has already made purple shadow feel like a season-defining move.

Elsewhere, Nara Smith delivered a sculpted matte eye at the S/S 27 Magda Butrym show, pairing a sharply arched brow with a chiselled cut crease and matte ivory eyeshadow for a look that felt equal parts classic and editorial.

Charli XCX, meanwhile, is steering brown smoky eyes into cooler territory, favouring a softer, smudged finish that echoes her rock-star glam while staying easy enough to translate into everyday autumn dressing. “We were inspired by Prada Beauty’s new Wisteria Makeup Collection to pop that beautiful lilac colour on the eyes,” Casillas said in a press release.

What makes this wave of eyeshadow so compelling is the way it mirrors fashion’s current mood: precise, expressive and willing to play with contrast.

Iris Law’s glistening gradient look, which moves from wispy grey to ballerina-pink shimmer and glistening pale green, pushes the idea of an autumn colour palette beyond the expected browns and olives, while Charli XCX’s opaque black smoky eyes and imperfect blending embrace a more deliberate kind of undone glamour.

Paloma Elsesser sits in the same conversation too, with her sculpted eye looks in cool tones signalling a trend that is quietly gathering momentum and, as beauty editors know, is likely to travel fast.

That is what gives these looks their pull: they are not isolated celebrity moments, but the beginnings of a broader seasonal language.

From lilac lids to ivory shadow, from pastel shimmer to metal-leaning black, autumn 2026 is shaping up to be a season where eyes do the talking.

And if the current crop of tastemakers is any indication, the most directional makeup move for the months ahead will be to choose the shade that best matches the mood you want to project, then wear it with confidence.
